metzomagic.com RSS Feed - How to hook up
RSS is an acronym for Really Simple Syndication (a.k.a. Rich Site Summary, take your pick), and
it's a way to automatically inform readers when new articles appear on your site, without having
to send them pesky e-mails :-)
Say you visit about 10 sites a day, manually searching for new articles. Instead, you could be using
a news aggregator. Once a site supplies an RSS feed, the news aggregator can automatically scan the feed
for updates (usually once an hour), and give you a count of how many articles you have not yet read on
that site. So now you have a nice table of your 10 favourite sites presented by the news aggregator that
you can quickly scan to see if there might be anything new to read.
You can download aggregators that run in Windows or Linux, but I use a simple browser-based one called
Inoreader. Just sign up for Inoreader, hit the '+' sign to add a
new feed, and paste in the following URL:

Note: some automated RSS crawlers are 'scraping' home pages on the web and presenting
their own RSS feeds. These feeds are inferior in quality to the one I provide, so please
use the URL provided above to get the best quality RSS presentation. |
